                  Presented by David E. Brown of Intelligent Applications Hatchery, LLC and Joaquin F. Brown of Vision Solutions, Inc.           

This session will review the applications and various associated technologies for interfacing information, data and applications resident on the IBM i power based systems with smart phones, focusing mainly on the various Android based and iPhone/iPad platforms.  We will briefly review the primary development environments on these two phones including Java Eclipse  Plug-Ins on Android and Objective C and Xcode in the iPhones SDK.  We will also cover the technologies for externalizing displays on smart phones similar to DDS based display definitions on IBM i/RPG applications.   The session will present a high level review comparing the capabilities of native smart phone applications vs web based applications

Sample code will be reviewed for:

• Using Smart Phones (Android and iPhones to access Database Information on IBM i
• Integrating IBM i Application logic and Information with Smart Phones
• A hybrid iPhone application linked to the Vision Solutions Web Portal
